Alas spring is nearly here. I can tell because the trees are starting to bud, the frogs are croaking  and I am starting to see orders for motorcycle piston rings and boat gaskets.   No doubt my favorite time of year. Mercruiser 3.0 Liter engines are very common, highly produced and all over the world.  There are two different head gasket sets available for the merc 3.0 liter from Victor Reinz and I created this very short video to help would be boaters identify which model they have. Although the cylinder head gasket in both sets is the same, the intake exhaust manifold gaskets are different on late years, (HS5719W) as Mercruiser attempted to lean the motor out by making the ports smaller. There are only two sure fire ways to know which model that you have: find your numerical serial number which is located on either on the bell housing or on a tag near the distributor mount or remover the head and see what the size of the intake ports are. Please note that if there are letters in your serial number then you probably do not have the serial but  rather the build number or cooling system ID, (Normally a tag located on the flame arrestor).  We have both sets in stock all the time and can ship same day.
